What you'll need

  • Lots of potatoes
  • Cream
  • Salt, butter, pepper
  • Rosemary or parsley
  • Onion
  • Cheese (gouda, cheddar or gruyere)

What you'll do

For the 🥛 cream: cook a bit of butter, the cooking cream, pepper, a pinch of salt, rosemary on low heat for a short time to get the flavours together. Mix in an immersion blender to make it all smooth.

For 🥔 the gratin: peel the potatoes and slice them into thin layers (better to use a mandolin for this, but knife is also an option). Butter the oven casserole, and fan a first layer of potatoes. Cover with cream, then with grated cheese in abundance.

Repeat for a second layer.

For the third layer, don't add the cheese yet - only the cream. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 to 1.5 hrs at 175° celsius until the potatoes on top are lightly browned. Add the remaining cheese and bake for 20 more minutes. Pepper and serve!
